Cineplex Studios, SAG & WGA

Cineplex Studios is blazing a new trail with new media and is currently in active contract talks with SAG & WGA bring new media web series to regular broadcast television!

Talks officially began today at the Screen Actors Guild, with Fred Copeland, Marie Lynn and John King, then later continued on the phone with the Writers Guild and all indications are pointing to approval from both unions to be able to show the web series on regular broadcast TV in addition to the web.  The shows that are in talks include: Journey: Origins, The Journeys  Trilogy 1-3, Season 4 and the current season 5 series that is in production.  In addition to The Journeys, we are also talking to the unions about Circle of Influence and other new web series that are planned.  This new agreement will benefit all the actors who have been in our web series in the past, as well as current and will be a positive thing moving forward.

The way we have presented our plan to the unions is a Hollywood ‘first’ and has never been attempted before in the history of Hollywood.  Both unions have asked for a little more time and are needing to look at different agreements to make sure that everything has been addressed, but all signs are pointing to approval to Cineplex Studios.  We have been given a preliminary green light to move forward from both SAG & WGA with the web series being shown on broadcast television.

Cineplex Studios also is in talks and has preliminary agreements we are looking at for several television stations in the Los Angeles area.  This will be a co-ordination and co-operation of Cineplex Studios, SAG/WGA and the television stations we are looking at.  There are may different areas that still need to be addressed and other topics of discussion included: new methods of marketing and advertising that have never been done before.  The SAG representative was very excited about this brand new approach presented by John King at the meeting.  Additional ideas were also presented by SAG to the Cineplex Studios management team at the meeting that can be incorporated into this new agreement.  This will benefit all new media producers and will truly change forever how new media operates.

A very big thank you goes out to John King, CFO of Cineplex Studios for coming up with the idea and presenting it to the Cineplex Studios management team.
